Data Sources
Incoming Science aggregates content from the following sources. We are grateful to each for making open access to scientific literature possible.
Preprints
arXiv — Cornell University
Daily preprint feeds across physics, mathematics, computer science, quantitative biology, economics, and related fields. arXiv is the primary source for new papers in most fields covered by Incoming Science.
bioRxiv — Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Daily preprint feeds across biology and life sciences, including systems biology, bioinformatics, and genetics. bioRxiv papers are routed to the same triage pool as arXiv papers for fields that cover biological topics.
medRxiv — Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Daily preprint feeds covering clinical medicine, epidemiology, and health sciences.
NBER Working Papers — National Bureau of Economic Research
Working paper feed covering economics, finance, and public policy research.
CEPR Discussion Papers — Centre for Economic Policy Research
Discussion paper feed covering economics and public policy, with a strong European perspective.

Abstract Enrichment
For journal articles whose full abstracts are not available in their RSS feeds, Incoming Science queries the following open scholarly databases to retrieve them.
Semantic Scholar — Allen Institute for AI
Batch API used to retrieve abstracts for journal papers not directly accessible via RSS, including ACS journals. Semantic Scholar indexes hundreds of millions of scientific papers across all disciplines.
OpenAlex
Open catalog of scholarly works, authors, and institutions. Serves as the primary article feed for several humanities and social-science journals, and as a fallback abstract source for papers from publishers with restricted access.
Crossref
DOI registration agency metadata API. Used to retrieve article metadata for AEA journals and as a fallback abstract source.
Europe PMC — EMBL-EBI
Open repository of life-science literature. Used as a fallback abstract source for biology and medicine papers.
CORE
Aggregator of open-access research outputs from repositories worldwide. Used as an additional fallback for open-access papers not yet indexed by other sources.
